Crop Circles- What are they?

Posted: Jul 21, 2011 by Emily

Most of you, if not all, know about crop circles. I’ve seen them in movies. They are big circular patterns or depressions that show from nowhere in just one night in corn or wheat fields. This happens when crops are standing high. It’s like- one night you go to sleep. The next morning you wake up and whoa- a huge chunk of your corn is gone.

This has become such a widespread concept that this whole process has got its own scientific nomenclature- cereology. There are also some other types of crop circles, like unusual ground markings (UGM). These include burn marks, saucer nests, tripod marks etc.

Most of these crop circles showed up in South East England, and they had been appearing ever since early 1980’s. Almost all of them were reported in U.S. and Europe. Many of them have been called hoax. Others are a mystery. Crop circles can be as small as 10 feet to as large as 315 feet in diameter. This means that a lot of wheat and corn has gone waste.

They are always formed in the night and are discovered in the morning, and no other trace is found that could tell how they were formed. It seems that there is some external force that is acting on them. Oh and another thing- the plants on the edge of the circles are bent, and they face the same direction. So it’s like they have been bent by some heavy force applied from above. But then, the crops grow normally, even after being bent heavily.

Farmers have reported strange sounds prior to the formation of these circles. They have seen orange lights and whooshing sounds.

Some people say it’s the work of aliens, while others say it’s because of some deep earth forces. Emilian verdict? These are pranks. On one hand we say that aliens are present and they hide themselves, and only top government officials know about them. And on the other hand, we claim that aliens are leaving us huge signs, “Look here, we do exist- see those bent crops?” I think all the crop circles are hoax. Someone played a prank once and the news spread. Soon everyone was at it. What do you think? Do you think aliens would want to leave huge proofs of their existence?

Hi emily, initially a guy called bowyer (i think) claimed to be making these circles, and had been since the late seventies, with another guy using nothing but planks of wood and bits of rope. He then claimed he had a network of guys doing this the world over. Now my cousin Clive is a researcher for channel 4 in the uk, and in 1994 was working on a documentary looking into the phenomenon of Crop circles and interviewed this guy and came to the conclusion that he and his partners in crime were publicity hounds. Yes he could replicate the crop circles using a childs wooden swing, however he could not explain how he or his cronies crossed many of the fields without damaging the crops. Their stories also fell apart when they were quized about some of the bigger perfectly geometric shapes that could only be made out properly from the air (they claimed to have hired a microlight aircraft but could not "remember" where they hired it from). While they were satisfied that these guys were responsible for a dozen or so small ones in the south of england. When they were filming one formed overnight in a nearby field and they were told it was a freak wind that caused it, but when they investigated it they found that a good part of the wheat had been broken and the ears had been ripped off, the pattern was also different. The program concluded that crop circles remained an unexplained phenonemon, however with all the anecdotal evidence and inability to recreate the bigger crop circles most of the team involved were convinced of alien activity.

Hmmm... that's interesting. But even if the bigger ones are due to alien activity, why would aliens want to prove their existence, while at the other places, they are found hiding, or disclosed only to the government

could be markers or co-ordinates or maybe even messages to other visitors, I mean we would plant a flag if we visited another planet, and remember that while we think of ourselves as the dominant species on this planet, to a far more advanced race me may be comparitavely no more than cattle. One of the things I consider is that UFO's may not be Alien in origin. I often toy with the idea some time in our future man may actually unlock the secrets of time travel and UFO's may in fact be our far future cousins visiting life changing events in our history (have you noticed strange unexplained stuff and UFO sightings around significant events, and in particular biblical events which although at the time looked like burning bushes and ladders into clouds would now be classified as close encounters and abductions).

Time travel.... now THAT's interesting

Weeeeell there's a couple of things that are curious, there's a clip from a 1928 charlie chaplain movie (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1324132/Time-traveller-woman-mobile-phone-1928-Charlie-Chaplin-film.html) that appears to show a woman using a mobile phone. And I always figure that if mr einstein is right and time travel is possible and we do decide to visit events in our past then we may be seen. We may not know what we're seeing but if we are visiting events in our past we may be seen and the assumption may be that the travelling craft is mistaken for extraterrestrial. Crop circles may be a future form of writing "biggabum was ere"...

Some years back, I read a book titled, "Secrets in the fields", which I highly recommend. The author asserts, as a result of scientific analysis, that these resplendent, geometric designs are created by a quick, intense flash of heat. I assiduously dismiss the notion that all crop circles are created by audacious individuals by way of wooden planks and rope after a few too many Guinness Stouts'. The fact that most of these designs are confined in or around England may substantiate what Biggabum inferred as markers, coordinates, and/or messages, whereby, the other extraterrestrial races quite simply know where to look.

I have heard that lots are fake, but at the same time I hear that some of these crop circles pop up to fast in to far away of distance to have been done by a group of people. Some people say the patterns are complex geometries that hold secrets to free energy or time travel, etc. I have also red that near stone henge crop circles are pretty abunden, and that some ufo's have been sited near stone henge and that they see little red orbs leave the ufo's and come down towards the feilds and the next morning there will be a crop cirlce. So maybe ufo's have a little "scout" type thing that does the work for them. I also remember hearing about these red, holographic appearance looking orbs from Stan Romaneks book MESSAGES. He talks about seeing this orb pass through his house when him and his family are sleeping. Interesting stuff.
