Do Guardian Angels Exist?

Posted: Sep 23, 2011 by Emily

Everybody says we shouldn't believe in anything like guardian angels or ghosts. But I cannot shake off a feeling that guardian angels protect us. There have been so many incidents I have heard from my friends, when they could easily have died, but escaped without a scratch. The guardian angels seem to be protecting us all.

My friend Dave had gone to England with his wife Sue, son and daughter. He drives well. He and his family were in the car, and seemingly for no reason, he turned into the highway when a tanker was coming on. The tanker hit their car hard on one side, flipping it over. Roof down, the car went screeching down the highway. When it finally stopped spinning, Dave realized he was alive. He turned towards his wife. Miraculously, they were all fine. No broken bones, no injuries. How does one explain this without guardian angels?

I remember the day I was driving down a mountain. Three other friends were with me, and we were in a merry mood, talking. Now I realize that I wasn't concentrating too much on the road. I hit a boulder on the side, and the car came dangerously close to the edge of the road, still moving. I don't know how it happened, but I turned the car towards the mountain, and in a flash, we were in a safe zone again. How did it happen. Who made it happen? My guardian angel?

My friend Ruth firmly believes in guardian angels after a particular incident. They lived in a high-rise building at that time. Her four-year-old daughter was playing with her friend at home. Ruth says she had dozed off, when she suddenly got up with a start. She almost heard a voice inside her head, telling her to check on the girls. To this day, she doesn't know what made her go quietly around the house, not shouting for her daughter. When she finally came to the balcony, she saw the girls sitting between the iron bars of the railing, almost at the edge. Ruth wanted to shriek in fear, because the girls could fall off any moment. Feeling as if she was in a dream, she quietly went up to the girls and pulled them back, finally giving in to her tears. Was it a guardian angel who made her get up as she was dozing, go to the girls and pull them back from the edge?

These are questions that may never be answered.

I think "guardian angels" is a little misleading and i think we should really call them "guardian spirits". Both of my siblings, my wife and my eldest daughter, have had things happen to them that are the sort of things my father would have done for them, if he hadn't died eight years ago

Hmmm.... so you think that the spirits of our loved ones protect us... it might be the case. But there IS something supernatural that sometimes protects us

Apparently theres an explaination for it that says that if we spend a good deal of time with someone we get so used to their habits and ways that when they pass on, certain things can occur that are similar to things they may have done in life, and this both consciously and subconsciously triggers strong feelings and memories of that person which makes us feel they had a hand in said event. I dont buy it. I can see how this sometimes is the case but it doesnt explain physical occurances. I am convinced we have a guardian spirit (it doesnt have to be human) or spirit guide.

Yeah me too.... And if there is a guardian spirit, there can be god as well.... right?

Ahhh, not really (this is only my own beliefs on the matter, and I certainly do not wish to challenge your faith). Spirits are created from our own energy that is converted and released on death, whereas i find it hard to accept that god "has always existed" which is an impossibility as everything has to have a beginning.
