Are Conspiracy Theorist Loonies?

Posted: Oct 12, 2011 by thesecondcoming

Conspiracy theorists are often slated as “loonies” and “nutjobs,” ridiculed for their paranoid delusions and bizarre fantasies – and mostly by paranoid politicians who we should all know are professional liars.

Labeling conspiracy nuts "whack jobs" is a fair enough assumption to make when you have theorists coming up with ridiculous conspiracies like Michael Jackson and Latoya Jackson is the same person, Stephen King killed John Lennon and alien reptiles are ruling the planet. Some people are a few raisons short of a fruitcake. But can you tar all conspiracy theorists with the same brush?

Many conspiracy theorists are talented documentary makers, investigative journalists, historians, archaeologists, philanthropists and writers etc..in other words educated and intelligent people.

Yes, they only include information that suits their angle to put their message across, but that´s called argument and is natural to everybody, even during the course of our everyday lives. What we must remember is there are three sides to every story, yours, mine and the truth. In most cases however, conspiracy theorists collect an incredible amount of technical evidence, both scientific and historical, and put together theories that can be extremely compelling.

I have always sat on the fence when it comes to believing conspiracy theories, but do keep an open mind. I enjoy them for the history, interesting facts and just the idea that people are thinking for themselves and trying to encourage others to do likewise. Conspiracy theories also make for good conversation.

Where conspiracy theories get confusing is because they are often stuffed with misinformation. It´s not always wise to take one persons account as it is just a theory, but when reading round the subject explore the question that have been raised and find a plausible answer.

For example, I researched the 7/7 bombings in London and found massive holes in the official story. My conclusion has to be it was an inside job, because there was no other explanation. The only research I conducted was through mainstream media reports. It seemed the evidence to support a terrorist attack had been fabricated. Just like 9/11. In fact, there were striking similarities with 9/11. Coincidence or manufactured? (If you want to know more about this subject leave a message in the comments box and I will post an article!)

So are conspiracy theorists loonies or is the non-believers who are the real loonies? Let´s take a look at some examples.
On the first link below (at the end of the article) you can read a report from one particular lost soul commentating on the collapse of World Trade Centre 7:

Note he doesn´t question how Building 7 caught fire yet no other buildings did, nor does he mention the fact that buildings don´t collapse due to fire from furnishings. Read a report by a demolition expert and they'll tell you fire does not make a building collapse. In fact, the only three buildings in the history of high-story fires are the World Trade Trio.

Furthermore, the blogger is using information issued by the National Institute of Science and Technology - a government department! They're not going to admit the US government attacked their own people.

Let´s look at another example, this time on the moon landings. (The second link below). By the way you´ve got to love the arrogance of this guys opening sentence. He thinks he is so right – which is laughable! What a gullible fool!

Has he thought this through? What do photographs of pieces of metal prove? Nasa could show us photographic leftovers of any old moon landing and tell us it belongs to Apollo! They could photographs of any old pieces of metal and tell us they were taken on the surface of the moon. This is not evidence that answers the questions being asked which is where conspiracy theorists have the edge over the doubters. When they ask questions, they look for evidence that satisfactorily answers those questions. In essence, they are free thinkers. When doubters give evidence to disprove conspiracy theories, they raise more questions. Who are the real loonies?

Throughout history free thinkers have been persecuted. Socrates for example was sentenced to death because he didn't agree with the ruling authorities. Rather than agree with them or face exile, he chose to commit suicide.

Then we have Galileo whose vision to recognise that it is the sun and not the Earth that is the centre of the Universe. The genius astronomer was deemed a heretic by the Catholic Church, forbidden to publish his book and made to retract his theory as it proved the bible was wrong and put the existence of God in doubt.

Or how about England in the Middle Ages? People were made to support the monarch's religious beliefs. Whilst the Kings and Queens flicked between Catholicism and Protestantism, the people had to change their own views or risk being burned alive.

Then we have the peace keepers, Malcolm X, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, John Lennon. They were all killed for telling people it is possible for us all to live side by side in harmony. The government tell us the only way the world will find peace is by fighting wars, yet that extreme idea has not having worked in the history of the planet. And the loonies still trust them!

intersting stuff innit. I think some conspiracy theories are more believable than others. I also think (as i have said previously) for every major disaster there will be at least one conspiracy theory (usually more). The problem we have is that most governments are made up of arrogant men who believe that they are right and we, the masses, dont know whats best for us, and therefore they lie to us. This creates a feeling that politicians cant be trusted and lie most of the time, so when a disaster happens (natural or otherwise) that seems to benefit the government (or a particular individual) in question in even a small way, our natural instinct is to pick up on it and it only takes one to voice that opinion and more will jump on the bandwagon before you know it theres a website dedicated to it. Thing is it only takes a small thing that makes sense in a conspiricy theory to set us doubting about the official story, and once we doubt the official story we are hooked

I agree... Though all conspiracy theories cannot be believed, but some seem more true than the official ones

I just want shed a little light on the whole reptilian thing that as all things of this nature has grown way out of hand with the giant game of telephone we call information exchange. It simply started with a comment about our so called ruling class and how they have a very aggressive (reptilian frontal lobe) outlook on life. Next thing you know everyone and their mother is looking for crappy video footage of politicians and their "reptilian" eye slits. Sadly the more people information passes through the more distorted it gets and conspiracy theories of massive population control seem more and more possible as the reasons behind such a repeat of atrocity seem more and more logical because of this very fact.

Yup chinese whispers has a lot to answer for in a lot of cospiracy theories. We have a guy over here in the UK called David Icke and he used to actually be a footballer (soccer) and played in goal for Coventry, he is a big proponant of conspiracy theories, and was one of those that pushed the lizardman government ideas (watched too much "V" if you ask me). A few years ago he claimed he was the son of god and was here to save humanity, sadly the truth is he saved bugger all for Coventry so there's not much chance for the rest of us.
