From the Illuminati to the New World Order, conspiracy theories have always led man into blind alleys and empty basements. Like a constant itch in our psyche we search the mysteries left by unanswered questions and misinformation. Only sometimes the mysteries plague our minds are deliberately avoided by arrogant scholars.

One of the greatest mysteries on Earth is the history of man. Where did we come from? Are we the only technically advanced civilization to have evolved on this planet throughout Earths 4.5 billion year history? First we had the creation story of the bible, but we now know Earth is much older than the 6000 years or so attested to in the bible. Then Darwin came up with the theory of evolution – a theory which is being taught in British schools as an exact science despite hundreds of missing links that does not prove man descended from apes.

In recent years, several theories have come to light. Ancient alien theorists believe our ancestors of Mesopotamia were injected with alien DNA and passed down their knowledge of advance technology from which man has been able to develop. Yet, our technological development has been pretty slow if considering we have been given knowledge of technology from a profoundly more advanced race.

Another theory developing amongst a growing number of scholars is that ancient civilizations existed long before our time. It is said in the legends of Atlantis and Lemuria that cultures more scientifically developed than we are today who could harness the energy of crystals instead of oil to fuel their thriving cities. It was a world where telepathy was commonplace, and where men walked the Earth as Gods.

Mainstream scholars dismiss the theories as pseudoscience – meaning there is not enough evidence to support the theory. Yet it suits them to accept Darwin´s theory of evolution. You have to start wondering whether these double standards are just arrogance in the scientific community or whether these flimsy ideas are what we´re supposed to believe. The fact of the matter is there is more evidence carved in stone to support the existence of advanced civilisations than there is to prove we evolved from Apes.

The problem for most of us is that much of the evidence of this so-called pseudo-science is either ignored, hidden in the vaults of museums or ridiculed and dismissed as fantasy. Academia have even gone as far as to prevent scholars airing views that fall outside the official view are black-balled so they cannot find work in the field of expertise again.

One such example of academia’s blunt refusal to keep an open mind is Atlantis. Believed to have existed sometime around 10,000 BCE and 15, 000 BCE, Atlantis is generally passed off as a myth. This despite is being written about by the Egyptians to the Ancient Greeks. Even modern day explorers are finding evidence under the sea to suggest advanced civilisations were wiped out by floods.

The most notable accounts in the history of modern civilisation however comes from the classical Greek Philosopher, Plato who wrote extensively about Atlantis in his dialogues, The Timaeus and The Critias. Historians pass it off as a work of fiction, though many others believe it is fact.

In his time, Plato was cited as a heretic by the church because his Atlantean scripts were not mentioned in the Bible and his theories regarding the continent predated Gods creation story. These days it´s not the church that accuse people of heresy, but short-sighted academics and the spoon-fed media.

The Pyramid builders of Egypt, Peru and Mexico are the prime targets of so-called pseudo-scientists, and although they have found evidence that fits their theories better than the flimsy ideas given by mainstream historians, the new ideas mostly get trashed in scholarly circles. If it´s not in their bible scholar´s don´t want to hear about it – and they certainly don´t want anybody else to hear about evidence that proves their theories wrong. So under the carpet they go; and it would seem that is where they will stay.
