The assassination of US President John F. Kennedy has been linked with a number of theories – and now you can add aliens to the list.

Earlier this year is was reported by the Daily Mail in the UK that a letter written by John F. Kennedy to the head of the CIA 10 days before he died demanded sight of highly confidential documents relating to UFO´s. That same document was sent to author William Lester after he requested documents relating to JFK under the Freedom of Information Act for his book: ´A Celebration of Freedom: JFK and the New Frontier.”

Lester is quoted by AOL news as saying: ‘One of his concerns was that a lot of these UFOs were being seen over the Soviet Union and he was very concerned that the Soviets might misinterpret these UFOs as U.S. aggression, believing that it was some of our technology.’ That Nazi scientists working on anti-gravitational aircraft during World War II were shepherded to the US to continue their research, the Russians may well have had a valid claim.

The memorandum instructs NASA and the CIA to cooperate with the USSR on joint space missions and share information concerning UFOs. Kennedy is believed to have been concerned that the control of sensitive UFO documents by his secret service and the numerous sightings of UFO´s over Russia could be confused as American invasion and trigger an atomic war. The memo was sent shortly after the President had ended a telephone conversation with Russian premier at the time Nikita Krushev. Ten days later Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.

A similar document is also believed to have surfaced in 1999, when a CIA agent pulled the burning document from a fire in which the agency were destroying some of their most top secret information and sent it to UFO hunter Timothy Cooper by an unknown CIA leak. The document known as the 'burned memo' was written by the director of the CIA allegedly stating: 'Lancer [JFK´s codename] has made some inquiries regarding our activities, which we cannot allow.'

The speculation regarding the memos has lead UFO researchers to believe that Kennedy was shot to prevent him learning the truth about aliens and sharing the information with the Soviets. One investigator Robert Wood said he has tested the paper it was printed on, the ink age, watermarks, font types and other markings and discovered the authenticity was medium to high. Wood said: ‘I hired a forensics company to check the age of the ink and check several other things that you can date, using the same techniques you’d use in a court of law.’
