On 1st May 1917, a strange phenomenon occurred in the small Portuguese town of Fátima. Three shepherd children claimed to have been visited by a woman “brighter than the sun, shedding rays of light clearer and stronger than a crystal ball, pierced by the burning rays of sun.” The vision appeared to them again on the 13th May of the same year, and another five times in consecutive months, always on the thirteenth.

The events have become known as Our Lady of Fátima. According to one of the children, ten year old Lúcia Santo, in the course of her encounters, the woman confided to the children three secrets, now known as the Three Secrets of Fátima. The claim was made after the children had been visited by the Lady on 13th July and over the course of the 20th Century have been highly controversial with the Catholic Church.

The first secret the Lady passed on to the children was a vision of Hell. The second was a prediction that the First World War would end the following year and that it would not be long before the world was at war for a second time. This part of the secret was revealed to the public in 1941 and also stated that Russia should be consecrated to the Immaculate Heart. But the majority of the third secret is with the third secret which was revealed in the year 2000.

The third secret spoke about the persecution of Christians in the 20th century that would culminate from the failed assassination of a Pope – John Paul II – and also gave information about the satanic infiltration of the Catholic Church. The Lady said that Christianity had been abandoned and was not truly practiced by Vatican officials.

To support the third secret there is a great deal of persecution against Christians in the Far East, especially in China and Burma, and furthermore, the Vatican and Catholic Churches all over the world are filled with esoteric, or occultist symbolism that is connected with the Devil. However, it is the Catholic Church that initially connected occultism with Satan and Paganism to distract us from the truth. Occultism and esoteric wisdom is the understanding of the self and the higher forces of the Universe that we call God.

This all may sound a bit like Arthur Millers The Crucible where a group of young girls perform a spiritual ritual then claim the townspeople are possessed by evil spirits. The factual events would lead to the infamous Salem Witch Trials where many innocent men and women were put to death.

But in Portugal, thousands of people flocked to Fátima on account that the children had said the Lady would return again in October to reveal her identity and perform a miracle so that “all may believe.” And sure enough, on the 13th October 1917, over 50,000 people witnessed the Miracle of the Sun.

The crowd that had gathered in the fields of Cova da Iria near Fatima reported that after a heavy downpour of rain, the dark clouds broke and the sun appeared as an opaque, spinning disc in the Sky. The brightness of the sun was duller than usual and instead emanated multi-coloured lights. The sun is then said to have fallen to the earth in a zigzag pattern. The clothes people were wearing, wet from the rain, together with the sodden soil of the fields became “suddenly and completely dry.” The event is reported to have lasted 10 minutes.

What is even more strange about the Miracle of the Sun is that the audience also reported the ground and the branches of the trees were covered with angel hair, a cob-web like substance that has been linked with the fallout of ionized air sleet from UFO´s.
