It is not a lack of funds! They have concluded that its a waste to look for Aliens, if they now know they do exist, and have been visiting us, and for that matter, some are living amongst us as we speak! The could not even check the Moon out, knowing we are being checked out ! WHEN IS THE REST OF THE WORLD GOING TO WAKE UP ?


I think the intelligent design people are behind this... anyone who understands Darwin knows the truth


I agree they know Aliens exist and don't want proof provided to the public.. we need to study Kepler planets I think.. evidence is there


Dr. Baruch "Barry" Blumberg was a member of the SETI Institute Board of Trustees from March 2003 until his passing on April 5, 2011. Active until the very moment of his passing, Dr. Blumberg provided extraordinary leadership and inspiration to the world. Baruch (Barry) Blumberg (1925-2011) died suddenly on 5 April while participating in a scientific conference at NASA Ames Research Center. In an April 22, 2011 email (PDF) to Allen Telescope Array stakeholder level donors, SETI Institute CEO Tom Pierson described in detail the recent decision by U.C. Berkeley, our partner in the Array, to reduce operations of the Hat Creek Radio Observatory (and thus the Allen Telescope Array) to a hibernation state effective this month.


Yet, no indication to the true reason by the Government to close it down in such a nice manner. Again we loose to higher authorities who ever they may be!

SETI began operations in 1985 one of its sponsors was NASA. NASA has roughly a budget of $9.06 billion per year. SETI's operation cost per year was around $1.5 million. NASA and JPL along with many many others were also sponsors of SETI. When it comes to shutting them down i dont think it had anything to do with lack of funds but it had everything to do with keep us in the dark...


It's still going on - just not public facing.
