Talking Be ready for Mind Download in 2050.

This is technology's answer to the quest for immortality.

Ian Pearson, head of the futurology unit at British telecommunications giant BT, said that as early as 2050, a person can download his mind into a machine. He says that he and others are already looking at how to structure a computer that could possibly become conscious and he goes as far as to say that this computer can also have emotions. Another application is to develop multiple machine personalities. It sounds a bit like cloning except that it's not biological.

Does this mean that after having downloaded my mind, the computer can then work on my career and I can spend the rest of my time vacationing? When I die, my family and friends would still have "me" around but just not be able to see me or hug me. Or they could make this machine into a walking robot. It all sounds like a science fiction movie but this scientist is telling us that it's within reach. What do you think about it?
