Kidflash-You're right; the industry is still in a downward spiral, and it's probably not going to get better for awhile longer. The upside to me working at a bodyshop is that people commonly aren't paying out of pocket for our services. Insurance is taking care of the vast majority of work we'll be getting. Plus, a certain amount of choice is taken out of their hands. While they have the option of going to 20 or more locations to have an oil change, their insurance tells them to bring the car to us. We've got a captive audience, really.

As far as I know, I'll be staying in the office, which suits me just fine. I also won't be dealing directly with customers, which is even better. Quite frankly, I HATE having to deal with customers. Twelve years over two jobs, I've had to deal with customers, and all it taught me was that the "average customer" likes to complain when they don't get their way, no matter how foolish or outlandish that is. They also like to yell, and ask for supervisors if they're told "no". In an ideal job, I actually wouldn't have to SEE another human being to make money. This isn't quite that level, but it's getting closer to what I'm looking for. At least it's nothing remotely retail; I won't go back to that for less than fourteen dollars an hour, unless I get stuck in another unemployment rut.
