Default North Korea Tests a Nuke!

Quote:
The curtain is about to rise again on the long-running nuclear tragicomedy, “North Korea Outwits the United States.” Despite Kim Jong Il’s explicit threats of another nuclear test, U.S. Special Envoy Stephen Bosworth said last week that the Obama administration is “relatively relaxed” and that “there is not a sense of crisis.” They’re certainly smiling in Pyongyang.
In October 2006, North Korea witnessed the incredible diplomatic success it could reap from belligerence. Its first nuclear test brought resumption of the six-party talks, which gave Kim Jong Il cover to further advance his nuclear program.
Now, Kim is poised to succeed again by following precisely the same script. In April, Pyongyang launched a Taepodong-2 missile, and National Security Council official Gary Samore recently confirmed that a second nuclear test is likely on the way. The North is set to try two U.S. reporters for “hostile acts.” The state-controlled newspaper calls America “a rogue and a gangster.” Kim recently expelled international monitors from the Yongbyon nuclear complex. And Pyongyang threatens to “start” enriching uranium — a capacity it procured long ago.
It’s time for the Obama administration to finally put down Kim Jong Il’s script. If not, we better get ready for Iran — and others — to go nuclear.

Further to the above story, today:

Korea Test Fires Missiles After Nuclear Test.........

North Korea fires two more missiles after nuclear test.....

A defiant North Korea fired two short-range missiles off its east coast today, according to news reports, hours after the UN security council condemned the apparently successful test of a nuclear weapon as powerful as the one that destroyed Hiroshima.

The 15-member UN security council will begin behind-the-scenes negotiations today designed to strengthen sanctions against Pyongyang, after an emergency meeting last night. Diplomats scrambled to forge a united front against a test seen as a provocative step towards North Korea gaining a full nuclear arsenal.

Tensions on the peninsula rose as Pyongyang accused the US of "hostile intent" today and the South Korean news agency Yonhap said the North had fired two missiles, citing an unnamed government source.

It is time to deal with the Dear Leader. I do think the people of North Korea will get tired of their "beloved" leader spending money on missiles and nukes while the people are starving. There may be some hope as North Korea is going to start limited cellphone service:

There will be many computer nerds there who will be able to get access to the outside world by changing the phones.

Aw, it seems that North Korea's only friend, China, might break ties.

China has never liked Korea, and only dealt with them because of the ideology between the two countries. The fact that many thousands of North Koreans are fleeing into China has stressed relations between the two countries.

I think the Korean people will institute a regime change in the near future. North and South Korea will reunite.

This guy, who they call there "leader" is dangerous. the North Korean economy depends on donations from Europe an the US. We should just lock the "money tap" to the country.

North Korea's nuclear threat is not as unsettling as the instability of Pakistan. N Korea unless provoked is unlikely set on world destruction, whereas in Pakistan, I fear should the government collapse and an over zealous extremest coup gain control, they might use nuke's if only to fulfill prophesy.

North Korea has now renounced the truce that stopped the fighting in the 1950s:

I am guessing this is posturing to see what President Obama will do.

kissbang, Pakistan is also in bad shape as extremists are close to taking over. The military does not defend the country, but runs it. The US State Department is right to start to deal with the mess in Pakistan.
