I remember when I was in junior high, one of my friend's mother informed me her son was still scared of the dark. She realized she shouldn't have told that secret about a 12 year old boy, and she made me promise to never tell anyone. This is the first time I am writing about it, and I never told anyone about my friends fear.
While I don't express a fear of the dark, I would not necessarily take a lone walk in the woods at night!

hells! you are walking home at night in a secluded area and you hear some strange noise, who hasn't started running? haha
