Do you know that witch hunts still occur to this day? South Africa, India, in some parts of Asia, and even the U.S. I found this article of a case in 2000 in Oklahoma. A student was accused of hexing a teacher causing illness. She was suspended and her family eventually filed a case against the school. This 15-year-old girl was a Wiccan, a religion recognized by the United States, and therefore her rights are protected.

That is some weird case. Talk about a teacher having a hard day. Let's consider that the girl really did hex the teacher. It wasn't fatal but it could have been. No murder charges would be filed because there's no way to prove it. Wicca shouldn't even have been permitted to be recognized as a religion in the first place.

I didn't realize that Wicca was recognized in the United States. It is a free country after all what with its many affiliations and religions. However, it astounds me that this could happen in our educational system. On one hand, she's a kid and the teacher could just have fallen ill. On the other hand, she could be a little rascal and could have actually done the hexing. Who's to know?

Exactly. The witches now feel more empowered than ever. The law doesn't believe in their capabilities and they can do all their rituals in the name of freedom of religion.

I think they do. I know that there's a demon they're linking up with. They call it nature or some kind of light but the bottomline is that it's not of God. They have their various rituals aimed to improve themselves or harm others. Nevertheless, I doubt that people who have a strong Christian faith will be affected.

I'm not surprised to hear about this. People get frightened over things and the only way they explain it is to call someone a witch. Calling a person a witch is their excuse to act inhuman and it's a way that they protect themselves.
Humans have been like this since the beginning and obviously we will never change. |

I have a friend that is in to the whole Wiccan thing but he is still a great person. A religion is no excuse to over step your boundries and treat this poor girl that way or anyone else for that matter. We are all different and are living in a free country.

I am a big believer in mind over matter so I believe that some people may have some extraordinary abilities that would be considered "witchy" but I am not sure I believe in spells/curses.
