Cocaine from Finland?
Excellent! Does it beat the products coming from warmer countries in the Southern Hemisphere? According to todays press, it has been spotted off Cape Verde last night.... Link...

I think that there's probably something a little more rational: military hardware.
Given the fact that US intel continues to state that Russia and former Soviet Satellite nations are either secretly or openly supporting certain Muslim factions in the Middle East, and given that the destination was Algeria, there's a fine chance that there were guns or other weapons onboard. The "pirates" could easily have been a black ops military team from any one of a number of NATO countries simply seeking to neutralize the threat. I'd have a hard time believing anything paranormal/unexplainable about this without seeing or hearing something that really lends credence to such a thing. |

Piracy & Security Send to Colleague Printer Friendly Format Email the Editor .Arctic Sea found near Cape Verde
David Osler - Monday 17 August 2009 RUSSIA’S navy has found missing general cargoship Arctic Sea near the Cape Verde islands, with the crew seemingly safe, according to the country’s defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov. According to the state-owned RIA Novosti news agency, Mr Serdyukov announced: “Today at one o’clock in the morning Moscow time, it was found 300 miles off Cape Verde islands. “The crew have been transferred to our anti-submarine ship, the Ladny, where they are being questioned to clarify all the circumstances of the disappearance. The crew are all alive and well.” More details are expected in the next few hours. The vessel has not been giving off an Automatic Identification System signal since July 29, sparking a major hunt for the ship. While a number of subsequent sightings have been reported, none were subsequently confirmed. Arctic Sea first hit the headlines last month, when Swedish police confirmed they were investigating allegations that a gang of masked men impersonating police officers had seized the vessel in Swedish waters. The intruders purportedly insisted on searching the ship for drugs. Around 15 Russian national seafarers claimed at the time that they were tied up and beaten by a group of around 10 men who boarded the ship on July 24 off the Swedish islands of Öland and Gotland. Meanwhile, official Finnish sources have rejected speculation that the Arctic Sea was carrying a cargo of nuclear material. Jukka Laaksonen, the head of the Finnish radiation and nuclear safety authority, dismissed the claim after tests for radioactive material were carried out on the Arctic Sea’s dock in the Finnish port of Pietarsaari. |

Pirates are common in the English channel, it's the busiest section of sea in the world and damn near impossible to keep track of all the ships. Once the tracking system goes out thats it. They are currently looking into implementing armed guards on all container ships, just like there is on the planes now.
