As a veteran in the care of the VA, I have received those pamphlets in question. They were commissioned by the Bush Administration, but Big Insurance never let facts get in the way to destroy any healthcare reform.
The booklets are quite useful and one has to talk with a social worker when making out a living will. I have a living will and can update or change it any time I want to. It is wise to have something in writing so that one can tell relatives and loved ones what one wishes if they are incapacitated. If one wants to stay plugged in and live like a vegetable, they can state it in the living will. It is for life sustaining information as well as life ending. I look at quality of life issues other than quantity. What this country needs is for Medicare and Medicaid to open its doors for anyone who wants that option. BTW, I receive excellent care at the VA, which is government run healthcare. Do not let those bullies on Big Pharma, Insurance and the Giant Hospital owners scare this country out of needed reform. |
