Mayan Underworld Found in Mexico

On the anthropology news today, it was reported a portal to a mythical Mayan underworld was found in Mexico.

Mexican archeologists found a maze of stone temples in underground caves. They say that Mayans believed this was a portal where dead souls entered the underworld..which is why they found the offerings there.

Mayans were known to have built amazing architecture and had an advanced civilization that made the very tall pyramids. They mysteriously left their cities though. The archeologists' find is very interesting. They also found ceramic bones and offerings nearby.

Wasn't it the Mayans whose calendar ended with Dec. 12, 2012. There's a thread on this site that talks about that. I don't believe that it's doomsday. The Mayans can't have possibly known when the world would end. No one does. Their civilization ended prematurely, they couldn't even prevent that from happening.

I'm sure that on Dec. 21, 2012, something significant will happen on earth. The apocalypse is not it. The Mayans cited that date as the end of a whole cycle. The Mayans never said that it would mark the end of the world.

Just imagine what could be found tomorrow. They are finding so much in the way of early life just here in the US not to mention every where else in the world.

The mayan civilization was indeed very fascinating.I've heard about the 2012 calendar to but I'm not sure what to believe.Who knows what we discover tomorrow.Maybe we discover a time machine and use it to change the world so that we could prevent Global Warming for example.
