What's scary to me is the power that media holds over public opinion. They can enter every household in the U.S. and are able to mold the minds of its citizens. They can choose to suppress news or they can opt to emphasize those stories that cater to their interests. How information is presented should be unbiased; not recognizable by many is that they do slant the news with the speaker's tone, choice of words and facial expression. In my opinion, the government does have significant control over the media.

If national security will be threatened by the release of such news, then the government will have reason to restrict it. But for such power to be in the hands of a minority...hmmm, that is the current situation and it's unfortunate.

Who's controlling who? Is media being dictated by the government or is it the other way around? Who holds the power?
Media can assert themselves all they can however, I think it's the government who still holds the cards. In the guise of national security, the government can tell the media what to disclose to the public. |

I believe so yes. They have more pull than just about anyone. They only report on what seems to go in line with there belief system and the way they want to portray any single subject.
