Frederick Valentich (An Aussie Mystery)

The Frederick Valentich Disappearance is an event that occurred on October 21, 1978, in which 20-year-old Frederick Valentich disappeared in unexplained circumstances while piloting a Cessna 182L light aircraft over the Bass Strait to King Island, Australia.

Prior to his disappearance, Valentich reported via radio that he had encountered an unidentified craft that flew at high speed dangerously close to his Cessna, and later hovered over his aircraft. The case attracted significant press attention and became part of UFO lore.

No trace of Valentich or his aircraft was ever found, and a Department of Transport investigation concluded that the reason for the disappearance could not be determined.

Wow, I have never heard of this story... He could have just crashed of course, there are cases of plane crashes when the plane is not found for a long time.

He might have crashed, or maybe he was taken down by a hostile aircraft.

its a good idea to google and read his last coversation,
i have heard the actual conversation recording...
he describes being harassed "By some kind of aircraft...(static) can not identify".
"Seems to be moving at speeds...2,3 times, can not identify"
"Its not sitting on top of me (Metallic static sounds)
Fred was never heard or seen from again...
the entire conversation is of course more compelling :-p
