Can anyone answer why it is ok to ask a woman how she is going to take care of her children while working when it is never asked to a man in the same situation?

i reckon single mums who work and raise there kids are 'Heroes'.
They should have more allowances from the government and something should be done about childcare... it should be free and paid for by the government, if my taxes can pay for some F*##& welfare check, to a slacker, then they can pay for a single mums childcare expenses. |

Well, if you are talking about McCains VP choice, then it is prolly because she has 5 younger kids and is about to be VP maybe, and the 2 men running all have older kids maybe? I can't think of the last president who had kids under 18?

Because a man has a wife to take care of the children and a woman place is supposed to be in the house.

I really hope you didn't mean that. I know that may be what alot of men think but I tell you what there are many women with children who are remarkable.

Yes. I really do hope that was a joke. That is not funny.
Anyway, I agree with Truthed's post. But, I think at least ONE male president had younger children. I guess that was when women didn't have a choice to work outside the home. Last edited by okirun; 09-05-2008 at 03:42 PM. |

It`s probably because we women did used to stay home with the kids. When I was a single mom I had to work two jobs. I think a single Dad would be asked that question too when applying for a job. Lots od dads have custody now. My hubby has had custody of all 3 of his kids. Two are grown now. He had to leave the navy after 10 years of service because they said he wouldn`t get custody while beng in the service.

Face it, gender cannot be ignored. And as much as I do believe feminism is dead, I do not think reporters are out of line for asking her about her children. Why should she be exempt from certain lines of questioning?

Men aren't asked these questions because of what society tells us. As one poster stated in this thread, a woman is supposed to stay at home. It's the same kind of thing when a father complains that he has to "baby sit" his children instead of taking care of them. Mothers never say that they baby sit their kids.
Society allows all of this nonsense. If Palin is asked who will take care of her kids then they should ask Obama who will take care of his kids. Palin's husband can take care of them like Obama's wife takes care of the kids. Or they could hire a nanny. These questions should not be asked of any candidate. |
