Is anyone else as concerned about the state of education in the US as I am? It seems like we care more about standardized test scores than we do actually teaching students how to think for themselves and function in the real world after graduation.

Teaching to the test is a disgrace. The promotion of mediocrity needs to stop here in the states, and parents need to stand up and start paying more attention to what their children are being taught.

I would have to agree. We as parents need to take control of our childrens education and if the teachers are not going to learn to connect with the parents than take it to the school board and so forth if that does not work.

It has been ages that passing test is the only thing that matters in education. We will have to live with that as if we didn't pass those tests, we can't possibly make a living out of it after we finished our schooling.

I think the US gave up on competing with the other countries when it comes to education. I think the popular theory is the dumber they are the easier they are to fool?
