Is corruption an inescapable truth?

Are we all doomed to accept corruption as a fact of life? Or is there any way out of the rot?

it seems like there will be corruption in just about every aspect of your life. From big government scandals, to dirty cops to even the guy selling products in the street. IMO it is unavoidable.

Corruption is completely unavoidable. The best that I see happening, is the people who are "good" just remain that way and do their best to preserve the moral and honesty in being an uncorrupted person. Its difficult, because even people with the best intentions can sometimes do inappropriate things.

I have heard that quote somewhere. Its very true Liowkc. Corruption is everywhere. It controls us. We are corruption.

I wouldn't go far so to say that we are corruption. Many people are incorruptible but it is the system that is basically corrupt.

There have to be a lot of checks and balances in place in order to weed out corruption. I would say that even the cleanest of administrations will see their fair share of corrupt officials, and it is a sad fact of life that it is here to stay.

Well said, Splash. Checks and balances are requried because humans are humans and not angels. That is why we need a democracy despite its many faults.

May be I will sound a little too unrealistic, but I do stand against a corrupt person who is directly effecting me, though I can't do any damage to these big mouthed sharks or small sharks, but I do stand up for my right. " No favors for me or from me ".

Well, corruption is a way of life. Look at the way children are bribed with sweets to keep their mischief at bay.
