I think it's a waste of money which would have best been given to kids dying of hunger in some parts of the world.
haha ya i heard that story as well, pretty messed up if you ask me. How can you pay THAT much, I know people LOVE their pets, but in the end they are just animals, there are plenty of animals that need a home, no need to clone more.

Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should. There are things better left alone. This is one of them. She is not honoring the memory of her pet. She is in fact saying that it is easily replaced with a clone. If I were to die ahead of my husband, I will not let him clone me and act like that was me. It's sacrilegious.

Is there an agency that controls this technology? Even if there is, who's to stop them from cloning humans? So if you have the money, you can make a human being? It may tap man's unlimited potential but it crosses an ethical line. This clone will not have a father and the supposed mother carrying the baby will not share much DNA with him (if at all). How do you think the clones will feel knowing that they're a direct replacement?

There are two types of cloning...both reprehensible in my opinion. One is adult dna cloning, which is making another human using a lab-produced embryo. The second is therapeutical cloning, which most scientists would have us think is the lesser evil. The embryo will be allowed to grow for several weeks, after which its stem cells will be harvested and allowed to grow into an organ. Therefore, they are killing the embryo. I believe that life starts at conception. They just committed murder to save another.

Imagine what would happen if this technology falls into the hands of a deranged dictator similar to what Hitler was. There's no getting back from the dangers of this thing...it's like a Pandora's box. Anyway, scientists say they haven't perfected cloning yet and that no human clonings are being done because animal clones have proven to be sickly. That's what they tell us.

Who can be trusted to make sure that ethics will not be crossed? Love for money and ambition -- these two are a lethal combination. Cloning experts didn't get to their position because they're upright individuals.

She had to sell her home to make the price. I don't believe cloning has been perfected yet but heh! Let's hope she wasn't scammed with five ordinary naturally born puppies.

Froix, you're so right. The scientists can fake the clones. They could have had failure after failure and just screened pit bull puppies that looked the most alike the dead one. There's no regulating authority, is there?

What do you think these scientists do to disfigured clones? Well, let's think about it. If the abnormalities are discovered while the clone is still an embryo or a fetus then he will be terminated. However, the abnormalities may exhibit themselves when the close is all grown up. What then? Do they have the right to kill him?
