OK, maybe I should have said to all the Americans; exactly why are you pandering to this lady?

Hillary has a large base of supporters (white blue collar voters and women). If she gets pissed off, she can take many of these voters with her. It is about power, and Hillary has it. She is also very experience and will not take any shit from the world leaders. I think she is a perfect choice for Secretary of State. It will also do good on her resume if and when she runs for president again in 2016.

I'm of the opinion that Hillary is in it because of two things, health care and her political clout. She has a ton of clout and her views match a large segment of overlapping voters (that is between Obama and Clinton).

She won't be able to chair health care because she does not have the clout in the Senate. She wants the job to round out her political career, giving her more ammunition for a possible run in 2016.

The problem she has with championing health care is that the lobbyists all want to keep the health care industry privatized. It makes it tricky to "convince" her colleagues to support legislation that puts an entire, extremely lucrative industry, under government management.

Senator Kennedy is going to get a health care package out. With Tom Daschle named as Health and Human Services secretary, it looks like something decent will get through. Hillary wanted the chair, but she does not have the seniority as she has only served eight years.
