I just love the balls of the Gov for demanding money or a bribe to name a senator. Blago is not well liked here in Illinois, but he does get things done. Lisa Madigan is probably very happy, as she was going to run against Blago in the primary in 2010.
I do hope the Illinois legislature makes it a law where there has to be a special election to fill a vacancy. It may cost money, but it gives us a say. I wonder how many other governors make these kind of deals? Blago was being bugged for other cases, and he knew it. I guess he is expecting a jury of his peers (12 Governors). haha ya i guess so I can't believe he knew he was under investigation and still made the statements on the phone that he made! OH By the way, I just heard on CNN that Obama said he thinks there should be a special election now to replace the spot. |

Senator Durban (who is well respected) has been calling for the special election.
It is also funny because Blago taunted the FBI on Monday with his news conference about the company that Bank of America refused loans to pay the employees. He states they can record him but they will not catch him saying anything illegal. He knew his office was bugged as he is a Chicago politician, and the rule is talk like the office has extra ears. |

This is exactly what happens when you think more like Henry Clay and less like Abraham Lincoln. Ethics is what got us into trouble and ethics will get us out of it.

There is also a lot of talk that Gov Blago is mentally unstable. He could of had many imaginary discussions with imaginary people. If true, this would add a very interesting turn for this story.

Not really... he'd be out of a job instead of in jail and there still would be a special election.

I do believe there should be a special election, but I just think his possible mental illness can explain some of the charges. He did know he was being taped, and yet he would talk about this stuff? Also, not one of the people he had contacts with were recorded talking with him. He could be delusional, and that would not be a first for a leader.

I believe you are right. Some politicians are coming forward about having to bribe/offer the Gov something for a job. The unstable argument could be used as defense in his trial.
