I think he missed the part about where rape is a dehumanizing act.

A lot of the interpretations of Sharia law baffle me truly.
A UK judge recently suggested that Sharia law be adopted in the UK by the legal system! Sharia Law Explained: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2002/aug/20/qanda.islam I also remember the case of a young girl who was unfortunate enough to be raped in Pakistan and subsequently stoned to death for adultery! http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2002/may/12/theobserver There is a certain faction in the UK that feel there is a 'creeping Islamification' globally. This once extreme right wing party appears to be gathering supporters. It appears that with ludicrous cases such as this in Australia that the right-wing will gather momentum in all 'Westernised' countries. This isn't a good thing? Is it?

It's just odd that Western nations would be so willing to turn their back on one of the most fundamental tenets of Western philosophy, that everyone is equal in the eys of the law.
I heard about the lady who was stoned for adultery after being raped before. This is the kind of two-face, one-way-street sort of rule making that corrupted the US's own system of government and economics. My biggest problem with fundamental Islam and Christianity is precisely this mysoginistic attitude. It's all too easy to enslave women when you force people to accept an awful idea like this because it's your religion. If we accept the slavery of women, a thirst for conquest begins based on color or sexual preference, etc. It becomes a Crusade again and would thrust the entire world in yet another world war. The Muslims who believe that they are allowed to hit their wives are not following the true teachings of Islam. I have read up on the original tenets, and Mohammad was very clear on treating women as equals. Just like early Christianity, the religion gets changed to suit the needs of whatever whims the interpreter has.
