So, apparently the whole damn war is a pack of lies, if everything one hears is to be believed. Discuss.

World War II is the continuation of the First World War. Hitler and several other dictators came to power because of the upheaval created by the end of the first war. There was no governing bodies or armies to monitor what they were doing, so Hitler illegally built up a huge army again.
The United States could care less, and there were a lot of people and politicians who supported Hitler. FDR needed us to get into the war, even though he promised in the 1940 Presidential race to keep us out of it. Some state FDR and others knew about the coming attack of Pearl Harbor. One of the best pieces of evidence is the fact that all of the carriers were moved out of Pearl Harbor. The battleships were considered obsolete even back then. Air craft carriers were the future of war, and the navy knew that. The attack happened, and immediately the US population supported war. The question is, was the war just? Considering the Holocaust and other atrocities committed by Germany and Japan, I think the US was right to stop them. Japan did an act of war, although it would of been difficult to go to a full scale war if their plans were stopped. It is interesting to note that FDR was the target of an assassin in the 1930s. What if that assassin was successful, and the pro-Nazi Charles Lindbergh was elected President? Mr Lindbergh was very popular and could easily had won the Presidency if he ran. A good book to read is Jim Marrs' "Rise of the Fourth Reich". It delves into all the Nazi scientists and persons who escaped justice to start a new life in the US and South America. Very scary stuff, especially with the release of memos about the Bush Administrations assault on the First and Fourth Amendments. The Bush family has a history of being Nazi sympathizers. |

^ That and there's the private exploration of the Lucitania, which allegedly yielded munitions that were stored in crates marked oysters and other nondescript markings.
There's also the noteworthy, though extremely difficult to prove, opinion that the Nazis didn't do exactly what they are said to have done. Most notably, if one reads Heinrich Muller's diary, that most of the deaths in the camps came from typhus that was carried by the Russians that were brought in. Gregory Douglas has books about various points of history, including the induction of a lot of the Reich into the American Intelligence community. Last edited by Mingus; 03-30-2009 at 12:15 PM. |

We do not know the true number of people who were murdered by the Nazis in the concentration camps. The number is from two million to six million. That is still genocide no matter what the actual number is. The Japanese also committed genocide against peoples in Asia, and they have watered that down in text books there. We should never forget those atrocities, even though there are many people out there who actually deny the Holocaust.
The truth is man has been incredibly cruel toward his fellow man. From slavery to treating people like second class citizens up until the late 1960s in the US, it is quite mind boggling we can do this to other people. There are so many cases of genocide that continue to this day, and nothing is done because there is no oil in the region. I do agree that WWI and WWII had a lot of behind the scenes actions that still need to come to light. The atrocities done to our fellow man were among the first to be discovered. Many of our (US, British, etc) soldiers who freed the internees and survivors of the concentration camps lived with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome for the rest of their lives after seeing such horrendous sights. |
