Rachel Maddow had a good bit with the Texas Gov Perry's wishing to secede:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#30235906 I don't think Texas will give back any of the federal money and aid they have received from the government. Also, if I remember my history correctly, Texas can break into five separate states if she wants to. I would imagine that happening if the state does wish to secede, with each of the five parts deciding for themselves if they want to secede. Gov Perry faces a possible challenge from popular Sen Kate Hutchinson, and has never been very popular. He is trying to attach himself to the far right aspects of the Republican Party. It will help him in the primary, but not the fall election if a moderate runs against him. It is also amusing on how the Republicans and FOX News are trying to co-opt the tax issue from the Libertarians. Many followers of Dr Paul are not happy with this development. |
