Default Philadelphia Experiment

Do you think this was a government cover-up? How can you explain the accounts of people on the ship that day - ones that were stuck in the ship itself?!

Here is a link and a quote from a site that gives some details on the Philadelphia Experiment.. Hope this helps those who are not familiar but I know there is plenty of info online about it. http://www.skepdic.com/philadel.html
Quote:
The Philadelphia experiment is an alleged United States Navy experiment (Project Rainbow) done on October 28, 1943. According to legend, the destroyer USS Eldridge was made invisible, dematerialized, and teleported from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Norfolk, Virginia, and back again to the Philadelphia Naval Yard. The experiment allegedly had such terrible side effects, such as making sailors invisible and causing them to go mad, that the Navy quit exploring this exciting new technology.

The experiment was allegedly done by Dr. Franklin Reno as an application of Einstein's unified field theory. The experiment supposedly demonstrated a successful connection between gravity and electromagnetism: electromagnetic space-time warping.

Sorry this is the result of 1 man's overactive imagination and a novel called "thin air". The ship the USS Eldridge has at this point never docked in Philadelphia. In fact if you click the link in the text it states
Quote:
The story is a mixture of fact, fiction, speculation, and madness.
The experiment on the ship in question was the USS Engstrom not the Eldridge and it was attempting to unmagnetize the ship making it immune to mines and magnetic torpedo's another goal was to make it invisible to radar. Both systems do exist and have been in use since WW2

There is also a film that has added to the myth adding time travel to the story.

The History Channel did a special on this story, and it looks like it never happened. It did make for a couple of movies, from "The Final Countdown" to "The Philadelphia Experiment".
