We all know the story behind this. Well maybe not all...

The Roswell Incident involved the recovery of materials near Roswell, New Mexico, USA, on July 7, 1947. ~Wikipedia

What's with the coverup? Is it really just one top secret hot air ballon experiment as they say?

No I don't think it's as simple as a hot air ballon experiment. I think the spaceship is still there, maintained by the government so that they can learn and discover the technologies.

The government did find something that is the only statement that we know is true about Roswell. Many people believe that it was an alien spacecraft with extra terrestrials inside, other believe it was just a weather balloon. If it was from out of this world like many eye witness have said then there is lots more that the US government knows that we don't.

As for Roswell, I find it really hard to believe all the people who have "leaked" info and none if it to be true. I think that they have found a spacecraft and are trying to rebuild one from earthly materials.

I think there's definitely something there, else why cover something up unless there's something to hide

It's one event that, I'd love to go back in time and witness with knowing what we know now. That being, knowing that it is going to happen, where and when.

I believe that something alien landed in Roswell that night. if it didn't why was the military so eager to take it back to their base without anyone seeing what they had?

Whatever it is it's something they really don't want the public to find out which makes the incident even more suspicious.

"The crash of an alien spacecraft in the Roswell area was a real event and much of the lore, I can't say all of the lore, but much of the fact that dead bodies were recovered and live ones were recovered, that they were not of this world, was the story.”

Agreed, there was definitely a crashed UFO IMO. The government sent a lot of resources to that area to recover the object. Balloons had been used in WWI for surveilence. In WWII the Japanese used balloon bombs as a "sneak attack" on the US mainland. So the story of a ballon crashing is Roswell is very far fetched as we were already well beyond that "technology".

To have that many witnesses tells me that this is true and that the government attempted to cover it up. They called the flying disc a weather balloon and those who saw the alien's bodies allegedly had "transformed memories" of killed personnel. Are they saying that the residents of Roswell all imagined the same thing at the same time?
