It's absurd to me that they would alienate the entire world (minus the Christian population) to carry out this weird plan. I doubt that many would even believe the nonsense to begin with. Besides, it would cost an unbelievable amount to do this.

This has been in the conspiracy boards for a while. The date is supposed to be Dec 21, 2012 to coincide with the Mayan calendar and other predictions on that date. The secret Aurora project near the Arctic Circle is supposed to use mind control signals to create the sense of a real invasion. The plot sounds very fantastical, but there is enough technical jargon and science to make it seem real. Could they really use signals to control our thoughts and perceptions? The reality is they are experimenting on ways to control the enemy.
This is one of those theories you want to laugh at, but then when you give it some thought it starts to scare you. I can only say, I really hope it is not true. |

Seriously, how are you going to explain the "Rapture" of god knows how many people (real or not) when many cultures aren't even aware of such an event. One such culture would be the Native Americans that are left. They probably would end up calling the BS and start talking. Buddhists are another group that would be far more difficult than most, due to their belief that every single one of us is God and that our strength really is within us.

The version I hear has to do with alien invasion, not the Second Coming. As Mingus points out, Christians only make up a minority of religions. Aliens are something everyone could believe.

To me, it all sounds like a Doctor Evil plan, completely blown out of appropriate proportions (not just out of proportion, I mean it's utterly stupid). It's just reaking of philosophical arrogance and to attempt to do so would make a lot of people realize that the government is all about themselves, thus making the governments involved the enemy of the world. They would basically only do that to instill martial law or stoke a gigantic nuclear war of some kind. Something that also is utterly stupid.

To be true, I think that bullsh*t. Excuse my harsh language, but that is my opinion.
Why? because it is impossible. the fact is, that if you want to do audio and video in space, you will face big problem. for example: audio flies around with 1000 km/h (I donīt know the number in miles, because Germany uses kilometers per hour), but the earth circles around the sun a little faster (donīt know the correct number). There will at any time will an interferance with the movement of the earth and the audio, so there are two things, that would be plausible konditions. FIRST: you would hear nothing at all SECOND: It would sound like an ambulance would drive past you. I think everybody knows that sound. You here the sirens of the car, and when it passes you, the sound of the siren is getting deeper and deeper. It is very difficult to explain, but I hope you get the point. Of course video would cause equally as many problems as audio do. |

The Project Blue Beam rumors are more than likely bullshit, Area-51. The idea or rumor has been on the fringe internet sites for quite a while. There are two scenarios, one being the return of Jesus, and the other being an alien invasion. A program called HAARP is thrown in to add some science to it and make it seem believable. When the HAARP program is explained as measuring the aurora and how the sun affects our atmosphere, it is blown off as government disinformation. Many people believe Blue Beam as true, and they can pick which one fits their belief systems.
Add in some authors who right about this and make money selling books to a gullible group of people, and this will not go away. The current date is set for Dec 2012, and when that passes it will be set at the next date with such prophecies attached to it. In the past, it was 1999, 2000, 2003 etc. As you can see those dates passed and nothing happened. You are also correct on the impossibility of such a project. It would have to be in tune with everybody's brain waves, and also be able to reach all over the word. |

Indeed, I forgot about the Doppler effect (the second point raised in the above post).
The only way to bypass this is to keep the satellites in a fixed rotation, locked in with the Earth; the same way the moon is with the Earth, which is why we only see one side. |

The Council of Nicea was set up to combine the separate belief systems of Christianity into one. The Gnostics were completely different than the Orthodox Christians, and Constantine wanted one belief system to control the peoples of the lands. Many different groups spoke many different languages, but religion would be universal. They made Jesus divine and gave him a virgin birth, which were not believed by all sects of the new religion. The Virgin Mary took over for Isis, who was a virgin Mother Goddess, and the divinity made Jesus a god. December 25th was made the official date of Jesus' birth, to coincide with Saturnalia, a very popular religious festival at the time. The resurrection was picked during spring, in which the spring Goddess Eostre was changed to Easter. The Easter Bunny who brought eggs (fertility symbol) survived, and is still with us today.
