I believe anyone who thinks an assault rifle is needed in the US is being ridiculous and should not be taken seriously. What practical purpose do they serve? The only thing they're good for is the military.

What you folks dont understand is how is he defining Assult rifle (1.) if it takes a clip its considered assult I have a 12 gauge shot gun with clip for pheasant hunting (2). Synthic stock is considered assult I have a inline black powder single shot rifle for deer season with synthic stock (3) semi automatic firing I have a 22 caliber semi automatic for squirrel hunting .
So do you see the faults in his assault wepons plan and then you have to hear about his tax on ammo |

Why not just go after the gun traffickers? That is much better than trying to reimpose a ban. It will not get the 60 votes needed for cloture in the Senate. Too many Democrat and Republicans from hunting states will not vote for this.

Plus look what happened when California banned the sales of .50 Cal BMG rifles. Manufacturers (Barrett) said they would stop servicing any of their products for the state government/local police agencies. I hope this doesn't pass, and if it does, I hope all the firearms manufacturers take the same stance.

Thanks. I think it is amazing they stood up and did the right thing by not selling anymore to the authorities either. You rarely see anyone lose business to do the right thing these days.

The police agencies could contract their gun and ammo maintenance to the nearest military facility or depot. They would not need the manufacturer to do it and then charge them a lot of money.
