TOKYO, Feb. 17, 2009 (Reuters) — Secretary of State Hillary Clinton suggested on Tuesday North Korea would have to make the first move to improve its relationship with the United States by ending its nuclear programs
Speaking a day after Pyongyang said it had the right to launch a long-range missile, Clinton said such a test would be "very unhelpful" and that Washington was watching very closely to see if North Korea ends its "provocative" actions. South Korean media reports say Pyongyang has been preparing to test its longest-range Taepodong-2 missile, which is designed to reach as far as Alaska but has never flown successfully Officials in South Korea have also been anticipating a short-range missile test near a disputed sea border where navies from the two countries have clashed in the past. "The possible missile launch that North Korea is talking about would be very unhelpful," she told a news conference in Tokyo after talks with her Japanese counterpart. The idea should be to open a dialogue with a sane leader. I don't think the man running North Korea is sane. Any talks with him would be futile.

I also hear he is not in very good health. Maybe the next person who takes over will be easier to deal with.

Considering the condition of the nation, if they aren't all so insulated that they have no other viewpoint than the government's, then chances are communism will probably end. They're having trouble with food, so chances are capitalism and massive aid from the US and Korea's neighbors will restore it.

It is still surprising that a nation that is modern still has a problem of mass famine. The government is not communist, but an absolute monarchy, with the communist brand attached to it so the people will accept it.

Eh, it's always pick, pick, pick with you isn't it?
China, I'm sure, will be monitoring them closely and so shall it's newfound friend, Russia. I'm confident North Korea will be kept in check. |
