Last night (Saturday, March 14) the History Channel reran the show about the genius of Nikola Tesla. (It was new to me as I have not seen it yet.) There is an interesting statement about the government taking possession of all of Mr Tesla's papers. It was also stated they did that for the war effort, and were afraid of the possibility of Hitler gaining some knowledge to his benefit. While I do believe that is fair in itself, the program then stated the papers were released to Belgrade, Yugoslavia during 1952. My major problem with that one was Yugoslavia was a communist nation back then, and while they always had shaky relations with the USSR, they were still not trusted.
Why would the government give the papers to Yugoslavia? Why didn't they release all the papers academically first here? There are many who believe the government kept most of the really important work of Mr Tesla, and gave Yugoslavia the usual personal letters. While he was a genius and had his hand in everything electric, I do think some of his alleged inventions were highly implausible. The earthquake machine may be possible on a large scale, but the small radio sized one able to take down a few city blocks was a little unbelievable to me. It still may have been possible he did create it, but I believe the power he needed for that would have needed a much larger device. They did seem to overplay his eccentricities, like helping wounded pigeons. Although they are filthy critters (rats with wings), there are many people who do such things. I think he was quite lonely, and although he always stated otherwise, was hurt by both the Westinghouse and Marconi events. Mr Tesla had torn up his contract for royalties on the AC power grid which he invented, and he lost out on millions of dollars because of it. He was going to use his Tesla coil to send radio waves and pictures along with wireless electricity. Marconi beat him to that when he sent his radio signal before Mr Tesla. Because of that, Mr Tesla lost out on financing his projects, and Marconi was given the credit for a Tesla invention. This is posted here because of the possibility that the government and large corporations are still hiding the true potentials of Mr Tesla's work. They even had some major scientists state the Tesla coil would not work, and then a smaller research group proved otherwise. Imagine the possibilities of tapping into electricity without having to pay for secondary providers, just the main source. |

I do think it can do what is states, but I am curious if it would of taken a much larger one to create that kind of energy. It is possible he developed one that only took a small amount of energy to take down a building. If that is true, it would be extremely dangerous in the wrong hands.
The man was a genius, even if some of the inventions might not have worked. It is possible, as inventors have many more failures than successes. Without Tesla, the power grid would not be what it is today. Any failures would never diminish his successes, just make him more human. |
