Default Yowie "May have killed mans puppy"!

Quote:
A brutal attack that left a puppy decapitated could be the work of the mythological Australian beast known as the Yowie, a researcher says.

The seven-month-old puppy's head was ripped off in the attack, which occurred recently in a rural area south of Darwin.

Although the dog's owners believed dingoes were behind the attack, Top End Yowie investigator Andrew McGinn told the Northern Territory News a Yowie could be the culprit.

It could also of been wild dogs in the area. They do eat young and small domestic pets. I would not be quick to state it was a Yowie unless there is DNA to back up that claim. Saliva from the beast should of been found on the dog's body, and tested to see what attacked it.

DNA tests never seem to come about from things like this... I can not recall the last time a Mystery Creature (Bigfoot, Nessie, Yeti, Chupacabra etc) left any kind of plausible DNA evidence that had been tested.

One of the problems is the subject needs to be tested before the DNA starts to decay. Any trace would be good to find where the attacking beast bit the dog to find saliva or other traces of DNA.

I would think the owner is also very upset and finding his puppy had been killed to try and preserve the body. It also seems the owners think dingos are responsible. In the United States, coyotes are usually responsible for pets being eaten.

The thing in this story however is that there was a photo submitted which showed a rather heavy impression of a sort of man like foot print. Which was measured up to be made by something rather heavy, the shape of the print itself is very unusual...
However, without credible witness, DNA or any other kind of tangible evidence, all we really have is speculation.

Footprints that leave ridges are also interesting. One day there will be much better evidence for this type of creature.
