Storybooks, movies and in fact they are everywhere. I just wonder whether they are human mind's creation or is it maybe they do actually exist? I don't think it's as simple as stories conjured up to entertain kids. What do you think?

I too have yet to actually come across any clear evidence of such creatures, though I have heard a lot about them.Still I am of the view that there must be some kind of aliens/creatures somewhere which may be one of the many secrets of the mother nature.

Maybe not elves, but dwarfs are real, and rare! I wish elves were real though, they are so cute and ugly at the same time.

Yeah I think those books are like paradies of dwarfs...like when these mythical creatures were "invented" so to say...I think that they were trying to explain dwarfisim...becuase I know a long time ago people with those disabilities were known to have the devil in them.

I don't think Elves exist. They were just created by the brilliant minds of story writers i think. But I would really want to see one if they do exist. I played a lot of games, and watched a lot of movies concerning Elves and I think they are... hmm... say interesting

Yes, I agree. I find it fascinating how different writers across so many genres can seem to converge on the elves as a major focus in their books. Even in Lord of the Rings, they somehow created an "Elven" language which I think was way cool.

Elves and Gnomes are both mythical creatures and mythical creatures in general came from stories not based on facts. That is not to say though that they're not real, just that there's no currently existing proof of their existence.
Cool video on the gnome! Just realized that's current in South America.
