Monster Quest on the History Channel will do a show on the Loch Ness Monster on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 9pm ET/8pm CT. The show looks at a search for the body or remains of a creature that used to live there.
http://www.titantv.com/details/index...tentType=cable This is something I believe is quite possible. The Loch Ness Monster may have been one creature that managed to find its way into the small loch. The fish population could support one such creature, but not a family. That could mean there are other such creatures in the ocean. |

If they do find it, leave it alone!
I'm sure that 'nessie' exists! Or a family of the buggers! Loch Ness is a big place to get lost in, if it (they) exist, please leave them alone! OH! PS... it's no small loch! It's a deep trench that separates the Atlantic Ocean (essentially) from the North Sea.........

Small in area in order for the creatures to live in, not the loch itself. Large creatures would need a lot of space and food to survive. The show is the researchers looking for remnants of a dead animal. They believe a creature once lived there, but has died. They believe there is no group of creatures because the whole area has been searched via sonar, and nothing has been found.

one question.... if nessie is or WAS a plesiosaur, that survived.... then that means she would have been over 50 million years old?

The theory being proposed is that there was only one creature who was "stuck" in the loch. The lifespan of the creatures are not known, but it is possible it could be a couple of hundred years. There would be no immediate dangers to it, like sharks or other predators of the sea, so a creature could live in the loch for a long time. The researchers believe the creature would have died a few years back, and there could be traces of it. This theory is one that I think is quite possible. PS: I do not have a way to record the show, but you may be able to download it or watch it online at history.com. |

The show on the Loch Ness Monster was OK. All the objects found in the lake were clay deposits, and nothing leading anyone to believe it was a large creature. An interesting video showing two creatures was aired, but they were too far away to really identify them. The search will go on, but it is looking grimmer and grimmer that they will find any creature, either living or dead.
The "monster" may very well be a myth. |
