Last night's episode dealt with the creature known as the Jersey Devil that has been spotted mainly in the dense forest areas of New Jersey. It was an interesting show that mainly dealt with one good eyewitness account. They passed lie detector tests indicating they believe they saw something unusual. A sculptor created what the witnesses claimed to have seen, and it was pretty terrifying. The Jersey Devil could be an unknown form of bat, or a variation of Mothman. Footprints in the snow on the roof were photographed, but there was no real conclusion.
A horned owl has been proposed as an explanation, but the witnesses claim it was definitely not one of those. The Jersey Devil does behave like the owl in the eyewitness story, but I am sure they know what an owl would look like. The sculpture was no owl. The Montauk Monster pictures were analyzed, and they are probably a boxer or bull dog. Also, part of the show was dedicated to a massive search that typically had no results. Again, the best evidence going for this is the many eyewitnesses. One thing is I would not want to encounter this mystery beast. |

They are looking in the wrong place I married the Jersey Devil and moved her to Michigan. And after ten years I divorced her its actually a cross between a Rabid Pitbull and Satan I met her parents once and they have respect for me for going 10 years before I got away before she tore open my stomach and ate my innards while I was still alive

Missed the ep. But I was under the impression that witness claimed it had a horse like head. Now this is off a sketchy memory of mine but, didn't the story go that it was the offspring of a woman who sold her soul to the devil, and the child was deformed, and stalks the wilderness of the Pine Barrens in Southern Jersey? Just looking for some feed back, on what Monster Quest was investigating compared to the story I remember.

The head did have a shape of a horse, but did not look exactly like one. It resembled the hammerhead bat, which was discussed in the episode. I am thinking it could either be a bunch of hammerhead bats that escaped from a circus and adopted to the harsh winters, or else it could be an undiscovered bat that is related to the hammerhead bat.

Are the witnesses saying the creature was that small. I thought there had been accounts of it walking around, and at least the size of a small man.

The witnesses stated it was as big as a man, however, that may be because of the wingspan of the creature. An owl can look as big as a man with its wingspan spread out.
I don't think the witnesses stuck around to get a good idea how big it really was, and I don't blame them one bit. |

Dude, If I ever see an owl the size of a man I'm hauling some serious ass.

I looked up the hammer headed bat, and still the wing span at tops is only about three feet. Now granted thats a big friggin bat. But I don't know if thats the answer to the devil. Also I don't know if the the HHB's diet could be found in the Pine Barrens. I could be wrong because I try to stay outta Jersey at all costs.

I think there is a possibility it could be a larger bat that is related to the hammerhead bat that has not been discovered yet. Whatever it is, I would not want to encounter it at night.
It could also be Mothman, or a variation of that creature. |

Do you think it's possible that there's more than one mysterious creature out there and they all just get the title of "Jersey Devil" because no one can think of anything else it can be. There have been so many accounts of the Jersey Devil for centuries and not all of them have been the same, perhaps this infers that there isn't only one (type of) strange creature lurking.
