Thumbs up How to perform Magic Bar tricks....

Are you looking for a great magic trick to spice up your party? Well, you've come to the right place. Here is a selection of tricks that require very little skill, preparation, or sleight of hand. Simply select one of the tricks to the left for an explanation of the trick and the secret to how it works. Have fun, and remember the two cardinal rules of magic;

1. Never give away the secret to the trick.

And when performing a trick;

2."Once is a trick, twice is an education."

Crooked Jacks

The Effect:

Holding up the four Jacks from a deck of cards, you start telling the story of the Four Crooked Jacks. The four Jacks decided to rob a bank. They flew to the bank in a helicopter and landed on the roof. (At this time, You quickly square up the Jacks and place them face down on top of the deck, and put the deck on the bar.) As they landed, one of the Jacks went down to the basement. (At this time, you take the top card and slide it under the bottom of the deck.) The next Jack went to the first floor of the bank. (At this time, you take the new top card and slide it into the deck roughly one third of the way from the bottom.) The third Jack went to the second floor. (At this time, you take the new top card and place it roughly two thirds of the way from the bottom.) And the last Jack stayed on the roof as a get-away pilot. Suddenly, the alarm sounded. (At this time, you snap your fingers.) All the Jacks ran back to the roof instantly, and made their get-away. (At this time, you quickly turn over the top four cards, revealing that they are the four Jacks!)

The Secret:

While selecting the four Jacks from the deck for this trick, secretly select three other cards from the deck and hide them behind the Jacks. When you quickly square the Jacks at the beginning of this trick, and place the cards on the top of the deck, these cards will actually be the top three cards that are placed throughout the deck.

Psychic cards

The Effect:

12 cards are placed on the bar (using any red and black cards from the deck) in the same pattern you see to the left. You tell someone to secretly pick any BLACK card. After telling them to make several secret random moves, you are able to tell them which card they have moved to.

The Secret:

Tell your audience member to pick any Black card. Tell them to next move UP or DOWN to the nearest RED card. Next, tell them to move LEFT or RIGHT to the nearest BLACK card. Next, tell them to move DIAGONALLY To the Nearest RED card. Finally, tell them to move UP or DOWN to the nearest BLACK card. If you follow these directions carefully, your audience member will always end up on the MIDDLE CARD ON THE BOTTOM ROW.

psychic coins

The Effect:

After arranging 9 quarters into a square on the bar, (3 rows of 3), you ask your audience member to lightly touch one coin with his finger. Ask him to wait until you are out of the room so that you will not be able to see which coin he has picked. Tell him that when you return to the room, you will be able to pick the selected coin by feeling his finger's psychic vibrations on the coins. When you return to the room, you slowly move your hand over the coins and magically push the correct coin out of the square.

The Secret:

This trick requires a trained accomplice standing or sitting near your audience member. Your quiet accomplice, seemingly uninterested, watches which coin is selected. Your accomplice then takes a sip of his thingytail and places his drink down on the corresponding spot of a napkin on the bar. For example; If the audience member picks the TOP-LEFT coin, then your accomplice places his drink on the TOP-LEFT corner of the napkin. When you return to the room, you sneak a peek at the drink's position and you will know which coin was selected.

Helpful Hints:

1. Tell the audience member to use only one finger to touch the coin. Tell him this concentrates the psychic vibrations to only one coin. Actually this makes the selected coin easier to see by your accomplice.

2. If the audience member touches more than one coin or surrounds the coins with his hand, your accomplice should place his drink down on the bar, not on the napkin. You can then say that the psychic vibrations were not focused enough for you to feel.

3. If the audience member does not touch any coin, your accomplice should keep his thingytail in his hand. You can then say that none of the coins were touched.
