The circus monkey option is a bad choice of words when there is an African American as President.

In the USA, monkey is a derogatory term for African Americans. (Look for the stuffed monkeys with Barack Obama's face on them at Tea Party events and other protests against him.)

In Australia, you don't need dark colored skin to be called a monkey.
I never said that Obama was a monkey... I said he looked like one, I'm not sure if he acts like one... But he's pretty good at catching flies.

In the US, the term is almost always applied to people of color. It is an old term, and is used in some regions more than others. It is not as bad as the n word, but it has the same type of meaning. I just do not want Truthed to start using such negative terms and resort to name calling like some other sites.

You are correct about the fly catching. That is an interesting ability and I have only known a few people who can do that. I just use a swatter on the flies (and always miss!).
