Default In the Future, Robots Will Have Rights

A British government study says that robots could one day demand the same citizen's rights as humans. One day, robots will be seeking healthcare and housing. It's supposedly one of the predictions for the next 50 years. Makes me wanna go hmmm....really?

Their chief scientific adviser is saying that he's sharing these predictions to stimulate debate, which may be utilized to enhance policy. It's an interesting job they have.

Heh, I really doubt robots will ever be seeking health care and housing, but it is a very interesting thing to think about

and the British government is funding this study?

Clones seeking human rights would be a better prediction. In any case 50 years is just too close.

Yup, they're funding it. When I have more money than I know what I can do with, I doubt that it would cross my mind to fund a study on robots' social security needs. They want to be prepared for anything (emphasis on anything).

Is it true as what they show in the movies that governments have top secret folders to answer every eventuality possible? That must be what the Brits are making the study for. Movies must be a terrific source for them...sci-fi authors would make excellent consultants. I wouldn't be surprised if Stephen King, George Lucas, or Steven Spielberg heads their weekly meetings.

yeah, I doubt it... very interesting though like truthed said. I don't think robots will ever demand anything because they don't have emotions(do they?)... So I don't get what would be the point of robots demanding rights... just my opinion.

If robots ever demand rights... I hope they get them. but I also hope they won't take over the world.

Unless the robots have artificial intelligence, I doubt they would even know what rights are. They are programmed by people, and it is what the people want them to do that they do.

Robot criminals...I can just picture it now....

Distressed woman - "Officer help me, I was attacked and mugged on my way home"

Police - "Have you got a description of the person that done it..like was it male or female?"

Woman - "Well I'm not sure.....it was a robot"

Police - "Ahh...ok then, did you catch the make and model number?"...... LMAO
