Australian Racial Attacks

A random rant by the Ugly_Bastard

I'm a loud and proud Australian,
I'm sick and tired of the world labeling us all racist's over the small spate of attacks on Indian students here.
When you think of the over whelming number of Indians living in Australia the actual percentage of these attacks is very small.
in 2007 alone over 200,000 Indians immigrated to Australia and that number has almost doubled and we've had what.......? maybe a dozen attacks in recent months (it may be more I'm not sure).
I mean how the hell can you say an entire country is violent and prejudiced based on those numbers.

There is however a side of the story that the media seems to have completely overlooked and that is the fact thatr most of these attacks have been against Indian students who carry around Laptops, Mobile phones, expensive text books and many other small and easily sold items so could it possibly be that these are more crimes of opportunity than hate crimes (I don't believe in hate crimes but that's another story)

All this media hype about these attacks has also prompted some untrue reports such as this one

he set his car on fire for the insurance money and got burned and caught and claimed it was done by a group of men because he is Indian.

As with anything everyone is entitles to their own opinion but this is just media fueled panic and fear and nothing else.

There are hundreds of attacks by people of all nationalities against each other every day in Australia none of which is OK or justified.

Some Australians may be racist but no more than any other country.
Some white people may be racist but no more than any other race.
The World needs to realise that not only white people are racist, racism exists all over the World in every country, religion, culture and creed.

I'm sick of this racial bullshit as well... And now some anti-racism campaigner is fighting Dairy Farmers to change the name of their cheese.

The fight over the COON cheese name has been going on in Australia for years but came into the international spotlight just before and during the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

People really need to get of their high horse and stop being offended by everyday things like the name of a cheese.

Edward W. Coon and is no way related to the derogatory term "Coon" which as many people know what black people are referred to by some people.

There are many offensive things in this world that can be truly horrific that really need to be stopped but I think most of the time people are offended by their own insecurities and really need to get over themselves.

Yeah, people have been bitching about Coon cheese for years but Stephen Hagan is the only one with balls to try and do something about it.

He's the same bloke that fought for nearly ten years to remove the word nigger from the E.S. 'Nigger' Brown stand at Toowoomba sports ground, he even took his case to the United Nations. I don't think he has a case against Dairy Farmers.
