I know my Stig post should have been put in this topic.... Ooooops! sorry!
I was on another website and came across a few cool films.... The links are below, but maybe someone could be bothered to rip them and post them in the media section.... Space shuttle booster falling Earthwards (I always thought they were supposed to burn up in the atmosphere! The Hubble Ultra Deep Field in 3D Mystery hexagon on Saturn The Milky Way rising over Texas

the hubble telescope 3-D one was awesome. I'd seen that picture before. Kinda makes you wonder , if they can zoom in that far into the universe, why not just pick out one galaxy and zoom in on a planet to see other extraterrestrials? then again knowledge is power.

Its not acutually a photograph (well it is, but not in the way you think about it).
Its an analysis of radi, IR and microwave spectrums of light, so it's not like you can actually 'zoom' in on a picture..... What they do look for (SETI etc) are radio waves being emitted from a planet that would suggest the development of technology, but you have to think that if you're looking millions of years into the past, any Extraterrestrial life might not have developed radio yet. Or how about this for a mind blowing concept..... They might have invented radio, but live that far away, that their later invention of anti-gravity drives or space warping technology or stable wormholes might have reached us first...... Then again, it might all be bollocks....

Thanks Tecnos for the links.
For the hexagon on Saturn, all we need is a giant Allan key to unlock the mystery. In terms of planets, I understood that astophysicists identify solar wobbles to identify planets that affect their position; assess the planet's size and distance from the star; and then study the chemical signatures of the planet to see whether water is there. They can't actually zoom in on planets. |

And by the way, the video is totally awesome as well! |
