Default Internet use linked to girls' weight gain

A new study tracking 5000 girls between 14 and 21 years old for one year, found that as girls spent more time on the internet, the more their BMI icreased.

Isn't that obvious but good for girls to take note.

Is it the reverse with boys? What do you think?

I don't think there is a difference in the sex as for as weight gain is concerned. More internet usage means less physical activity which in turn result in the less calorie burn up. This ultimately results in increased body weight and in worst cases, obesity! It is a reminder to webmasters who stare at the computer for most part of the time

This holds for every one who works on internet for long hrs, one has to be regular with some kind of activity to remain fit.I think it has nothing to do with the gender.

Yeah of course this would be true. If they are on the internet then they aren't moving around and exercising...and you tend to snack when you are online.

I spend about 10 hours online daily. If it is true that body weight is determined largely by genetics than physical activity or diet then I'm sure glad I got the good genes from my dad. I eat a lot but I stay away from sugar and carbo.

Lack of exercise leads to weight gain. Duh! Did they really have to make a study on that? We knew that all along. I didn't have the internet when I was a kid and those were the best years of my life. I got into sports, attended dance and painting classes, and even had time to read books.

When my boys were living here (they are older now), I would take them to places where they could exercise. I also got plenty of exercise myself. Parents have to take the kids out and do some exercise or other activities. It is a nice way to spend a day.
