Socks the former White House cat dies

While I don't think this is particularly newsworthy, I did find most of the comments to be mean. Many of the people do not understand cats. One of the enduring stories about the Clinton years was that Socks would immediately go to Ms Currie and sit on her lap during meetings with then President Clinton. Ms Currie would start to bring in treats for the cat, and it was true love. When it came time to move, Ms Currie was so heart broken that the Clinton's decided to let him live with her. Chelsea was in school at the time, so she didn't mind as she could visit her kitty any time she wanted to. The cat lived out his long life with someone he loved.

Cats pick the people they like, not the other way around. Most of the cat lovers on this site know that one as fact.

I hope Bastet takes care Socks in the great cat afterlife!

I'm a dog person. I don't like cats.

The ancient Persians had the right idea about cats. They put them in big catapults and flung them into the Egyptians fortresses, rather than hurt the cats they surrendered.

RIP Socks. I love all animals. Usually prefer them to humans.

I love all animals but the cat is my favourite.
I have two cats and I don't own them, I am their servant.
