ball lightning

Does any one have any photos of ball lightning? I know it's realy rare phanomina, but I'm wanting to compare and see if ball lightning is simular to what a friend and I caught over head for a split second. It was a large ball of light, in a flash , there and gone in a second and all we caught was a glimps of it. It was occurring at the same time as light heat lightning. Any thoughts?

Not very bright, a flash in the far far distance about every 20 -30 minutes.

I was rather far from any power lines, we always take the back roads and I know them very well. It seemed extreamly high up, but then again perspective is always a bitch with not references nearby, at night, and so on. It almost looked like some one set off a large fire work over head, but it stayed in a rounded formation, no sparks or sound. It only lasted a second so. I really wish I had a cramra strapped to my head at the time. My friend with me only caught the light in his vision, not so much the ball like I saw. It was very bright too.
We just got back from another walk with the other room mates and I was looking up most of the walk, I nearly fell into a ditch lol. But no lights this time other than distant heat lightning again.

Could be underground cables. Any electric infrastructure around, e.g. substations?

No substations, those are on the other side of town. It was overhead, not sure if anything underground would have that effect. It's one of those times I wish I had a camra, but there wouldn't of been enough time to snap a photo.
The road was a back one, both sides are forest, one side more than the other. It was right the 4 way, where the pathed road turns into a dirt one on one side. A few houses behind us, but straight ahead no houses, we had passed the only trailor nearby and it's vacant, the fire house (back of the fire house) was not for another 15 yards or so. The road leads behind the fir house but the fire house sets up near the main road, a good distance away from the back road but you get a clear view of it.

I had read a book about ball lightning (and other strange phenomena) by Frank Edwards. He reported cases in which a huge ball of plasma would go through a wall and set inside a persons house. The lightning ball would either dissipate or move out of the house.

Very strange phenomena, but I have not seen any pictures of it.

BTW, I do recommend books by the legendary Frank Edwards. He wrote them in the 1950s and 60s, and they were the some of the few books on weird phenomena out there. His research was based more on hearsay than any real fact, but many of the stories were quite scary.

I use to have a set of encyclapedias from the 60's and 70's all on the occult, strange happenings and basicly anything out of the ordinary. His name sounds familar, I think he had an article or two in the books I had, but I lost the entire collection in a house fire before I could read them all. It was an entire set I had got at a shop (I kid you not) called Needful Things, here in town. More proof that where I live is a Stephen King novel waiting to happen.
I havn't seen any pix online so far, and have never seen anything like it.

you know when i was young i thought i saw a ufo but i might have been seeing a very organized glimps of ball lightning. if so that explains the whole reason i have never seen it again (rare). that would also mean, you all have helped me solve a mystery i have been researching for years. what i saw doesn't look like the video you shared burn man, but if u wait till the video is over and look at the other vid links (the redish, orange one) looks simuler to what i saw. Mine was a hell of alot more organized and lasted about 15 seconds before it did like a check mark pattern before disappearing into the clear night sky. If this is true, and it was just a "ball lightning" phenomena, I no longer have any real UFO witness story to talk about. therefore, no reason to believe any UFO video is anything more than a hoax. Now if i could just explain the paranormal experiances I have had. Thanx truthed members!! I still believe there's life out there, i just highly doubt it is anymore intellectually evolved than us. This also leads me to believe area-51 is nothing more than off-limits military research base stratigically placed in the U.S. who lets us believe something "alien" or "extraterestrial" is going on there, to cover up the true purpose of the base.
