Becoming a preist more devious than it sounds?

My dad told me of a book he once read that mentioned that the final test to becoming a preist is to give irreputable evidence that the devil exists. Im not sure wether this is true or not or whether its somthing that used to be a rule but id like to hear what other people think or if anyone has any info.

BTW My dad once confronted his old priest about it and he only said one thing before changing the subject ." i cannot comment on that "
