They are demons and fit in with ghosts, elemental spirits and angels. If that helps although they represent the one of the worst IMO beings the paranormal world has to offer.

Personally, I don't believe in the succubi/incubi as the incarnation of demons/ minions of satan, as I am a Heathen, and therefore don't believe in the Christian definition of anything supernatural.

As far as the existence of creatures of a spiritual/paranormal nature that live on the energies of humans, yes. As far as ones that have determined the best time to harvest the energies would be via sexual intercourse during deep sleep, I wouldn't be able to rule it out. The average person throws off an insane amount of energy during sex.

Largely, though, this sort of a spirit is one I believe to be more a holdover from the more Puritanical times of society, where a man or woman having even an erotic dream was a sign of them being "sinful".
