OK... Was listening to "Nathan And Nat" this morning on Nova 93.7, and they got on the topic of GHOST PETS, Nathan had a valid point of saying that even though he had an unusual experience the other night, he isn't convinced peoples pets who die can become ghosts because then "Where does it end? You can have ghost gold fish, ghost guinea pigs, ghost Hermit Crabs..."
Do you think animals have the ability to take on a ghostly form? Can they do so if they have had a strong connection with a human? What are your thoughts???

I do know that cats have always been viewed as having supernatural abilities. This did not do them well in the Middle Ages as they were killed believing to be witch's familiars. Ancient Egypt held cats in high esteem and the Cat Goddess Bastet was very revered. There may be more to this than us modern materialistic people can understand.
I think animals do possess souls, and some may be able to come back and pay a visit. |

I've not seen so much on cats as much as i have on dog's supernaturally speaking. Cat's and cat worship an ancient Egypt was focused about bastet as you said and aside from the obvious threat lions would of instilled on a primitive civilization in the area, Smaller "domestic" cats would of been revered for the fact of when they where about decease would of been less common due to the cats preying on the pests. Also a cats seemingly supernatural reflexes would of added to the belief they where Devinne beings. For example a frequent betting game even today in parts of northern Africa is a animal fight of a Cat vars a cobra it is frequently set up to trap tourists into loosing money on the bet, The snake being the apparent obvious victor. Once the fight starts it becomes immediately obvious the cat is the predator and the cobra is the prey, The snake immediately goes on the defensive attempting to drive off the cat through fear. The cat having usually been staved for a few days before waits and appears to back off further luring tourists into the trap. Eventually the snake strikes and before it reaches the target the cat reacts catching the snake in the side of the head and then latching on to the back of the snakes head in the same area a snake handler would hold a poisonous snake and holds on until the snake has died. A few hundred years later the Christians latched in on the cats are evil gig and slaughtered them in their thousands and this in turn led to the population explosion of rats and in turn caused the black death.
Dogs however have various supernatural aspects. On top of the base level "dogs are protectors of the home" studies with dog's and haunted buildings often show dogs having violent reactions to known supernatural areas, I was a part of one such test where we led the dog around the building and recording its behavior and then having a medium come round afterwords.. I have read of many cases where a violent spirit was driven off due to a dogs barking/attempting to assault the spirit in question. Along with incidents where ghost dog's (normally a deceased pet of the person) Has protected the person from home invasions of varying degree. Otherwise Anubis the Egyptian god of the underworld is depicted as having a dogs head, Odin the head of the Norse gods is often depicted as having 2 wolf/dog familiars. The native Americans believed the wolf was the 1st animal to experience death. Going to look for more info on animal spirits but simply put yes i think animals have a connection to the supernatural |

To be honest.....I was ignorant in the past...the kind of person if I havent seen it, or experienced it, then it doesnt exist
just being honest I have never seen a ghost pet before....I don't look for the paranormal...I dont care to...but lately see things I dont like and it angers me...I will do all I can to make it out that I am just imagining it all...<--that's the skeptic in me HOWEVER....if the paranormal really does exist..then I would suggest anyhting living once dead can be a ghost |
