Robert Bauval's The Orion Mystery

I just read this book on the Great Pyramids of Giza, and Mr Bauval started by looking at what type of religion the ancient Egyptians practiced. Most Egyptologists claim they were solar centered, where Mr Bauval was thinking astral centered. The author then takes the reader on an adventure where much information is gone over, including the rarely discussed Pyramid Texts, which were more important than the Book of the Dead.

The dramatic find is the alignment of the pyramids to Orion's Belt, with other monuments lining up to other stars. The Egyptians knew about precession, the 26,000 year movement of the Earth. The book ultimately suggests Egyptian knowledge and culture go back much farther than the 5000 year date given by modern Egyptologists.

Well written and informative about the religious and spiritual beliefs of the people, it has much physical evidence to back it up.
