Default The Witch Children

Quote:
In some of Nigeria's poorest communities, many thousands of children are being blamed for catastrophes, death and famine, and branded witches.

In some regions, evangelical religious fervour is combined with a belief in sorcery and black magic. Denounced as Satan made flesh by powerful pastors, Africa's 'witch children' are abandoned, tortured, starved and murdered: all in the name of Jesus Christ.

The parents or siblings of children torture them in an attempt to kill them or force confessions from them to admit that they are witches. Mary (14) who was burnt with acid before her mother attempted to bury her alive and Uma Eke (17) who has been left brain-damaged after having a three-inch nail driven into her skull, are just two of the countless children who display the hallmarks of witch-branding.

Saving Africa's Witch Children aired on Australian TV tonight, I was horrified and outraged.

Gov Sarah Palin's Pastor was a witch hunter in Nigeria. He would also pray to keep witchcraft out of his church.

This shows that the witch hunts never really did end. Many people have been killed and tourturged in the name of Jesus Christ. Like how the native americans were treated and forced to convert. Another reason why I stray from organized religon or the fanaticle bible thumpers.

After watching a program on the Knights Templar and what the Church did to torture them (including roasting alive, an especially cruel way to die), I do wonder if organized religion has changed much.

It hasn't, the tourtures have changed thats all.
Ever go to the museums in Salem Mass? Theres the witch museum and it shows you many of the devices and tourtures used to force comfessions out of people. Or the cure for homosexuality which was a large object that looked like the top of a pointed house roof, they would set them on it, pointed top in groin, and add weights to theire legs. It was terrable.
