Default Any demon cults in your area?

Satanism, obviously, is demon worship. What about transcendental meditation? Does that qualify too? Because they sure sound like they're demon-based cults. If you blank your mind to seek knowledge, something (not of God) will enter. As much as I can, I stay away from tarot cards, fortune tellers, and the like. I don't like that it's being glamorized. I was once invited to join a witch's coven...and casually too, like I was being asked to join a social club. I'm not zealous about religion and I'm not the type to preach. But people are so easily tricked to go to the other side. These cults are in disguise and they're out to get you through guided imagery, hypnotism, rebirthing, and mind control.

It's either one or the other huh? I haven't given transcendental meditation much of a thought. I don't do any of that stuff. I'm much too logical a person. At the same time, I won't condemn those who do yoga for example. There's a point here..one that I'll consider when the time comes.

I'm into yoga meditation, it's relaxing and keeps things in perspective. As far as I know, the leaders aren't peddling demonic philosophies. Until there's evidence, or hints, of that, I'll keep yoga in my life. I have discerning eyes, I'll know it when I see it.

One of my ex-roommates in college was a witch and she actually asked me to join her covent which I found was very insulting of her because she knew that I was Christian...and I mean she even went to a Christian College!

Nope, no one has approached me to do incantations. I am aware that there are those who practice this in my hometown. My aunt has ritual candles, herbs, incense and oils at her place. She even has a kettle! Sometimes I ask her what they are for. Love spells, she tells me. She's never asked me to join, she's scared of my mom, I think.

I know of a handful of covens and numerous other religions.

(including a pair of Jedi, but i don't consider them evil either)

BTW are you saying these things are occult?

I have taken part in rituals in wicca and they where a lot of fun it's easy to understand why people do them, For one thing its a lot of fun and its very different from sitting in a building each week being told your going to hell. Neither are my cup of tea really i don't have "belief" show me a god and I'll worship him fair enough but until then I'll going to live happy. Infarct I'll link the final quote that made my mind up about the whole issue.

Quote:
Dewey: [to the Bible teacher Helen] Like Pastor Roy said, how God is so much bigger and wiser than us, and trying to see what He's thinking would be like an ant trying to see what I'm thinking.
Helen: Yes, exactly. But we can trust in His wisdom, and have faith that He is watching over us.
Dewey: Like me with the anthill in my backyard. I spent days watching the ants, trying to figure out which ones were good, and which ones were bad, but they all just looked like ants, so I started smiting all of them.
Helen: Well that's not -
Dewey: I was smiting them with the garden hose, and with lighter fluid, and with the lawnmower, and to be perfectly honest, I think I went a little crazy with the shovel. Those ants could have been praying to me all day, I wouldn't have heard them.
[ponders]
Dewey: There was nothing they could do about it.
Helen: But, I don't think -
Dewey: Really, it's the same with us. There's nothing we can do about anything either, so why worry about it? Hey, this is making me feel better.
Helen: Well, that's good, but -
Dewey: I guess all we can do is live our lives with as much kindness and decency as possible, and try not to dwell on God standing over us with a giant shovel. Bye!
